Produces few seeds per plant and does not spread vegetatively (Barkely 1986, Gleason and Cronquist 1991).
Pollination: Pollen-collecting bees; no nectar rewards. Bees "explode" the flowers using their head and legs to snap the keel of the flower down, sending pollen upward to dust the underside of the bee (Blanchan 1900).
