Notes

Experimental seed addition in a small field study failed to produce seedlings (Brudvig et al. 2011).

Germinating some sedge species can be complex, and may involve removing the perigynia (bladder like sac that adhers to the hard pericarp of the achene), after-ripening (dry storage), followed by cold stratification, and exposure to light (McGinnis and Meyer 2011).

Has low seed production and vegetative spread (Barkely 1986, Gleason and Cronquist 1991); rhizome slender (Mohlenbrock 1999).
