In a greenhouse trial, germination and survival were excellent after a period of cold moist stratification in sphagnum (Mabry and Mottle, personal observation); does not readily self-sow (Mabry, personal observation).

Seed output high; vegetative spread low (Barkely 1986, Gleason and Cronquist 1991).
